The Bright Future International School (BFIS) has announced that it will close down its operations from June 17, 2021. The school has requested parents to ensure places for their children in other schools for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The school management has posted a letter on its website to inform parents about the closure. The letter dated May 4 has been signed by BFIS Chairman Abdul Rahman Mohd Almeer.
The letter has cited financial losses as the main reason behind the closure of the school.
“We are constrained to inform you that due to unbearable financial losses, the school management has decided to shut down its operations from June 17, 2021. Hence, the current academic year 2020-21 will be the last working session for the school,” stated the letter.
“We would like to share with you that due to increasing inflation, the school was struggling hard to meet its expenses for many years. There has been no significant increase in the school fees so we have been facing financial losses for the last three years,” the letter added.
The school also stated in the letter some options it had discussed with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) after student capacity was reduced to 700 from 1,500.
“It is therefore due to the reduction in students’ capacity and huge financial losses for the last three years, the school is compelled to close down its operations with formal approval of the ministry. We extend our thanks to you for unconditional trust in the school during all thick and thin. Moreover, we are grateful to the ministry for its support for all these 25 years as BFIS would not have been able to deliver well without the patronage of the ministry,” said the letter.
The letter has clarified that regular classes and examinations will be held as per schedule so the students can complete their academic year.
