Sohni Dharti, a socio-cultural organisation for Pakistanis residing in Al Khor, organised an online event titled ‘Virtual Eid Celebration Party’ to keep Eid Al-Fitr traditions alive and preserve the spirit of cheerfulness among the children even during the global pandemic.
The event went live on video calling app Zoom and was broadcast on various social media platforms to engross wider audience. The event was open to all Pakistanis around the globe. Families linked from Qatar, Pakistan, the UAE, Kuwait and KSA.
The programme was hosted by Sohni Dharti Future leaders Fatima Riaz, Sadia Danish and the members of executive committee.
The event kicked off with the recitation of Holy Quran by Hafiz Abdullah Shaikh. This was followed by a series of children’s programmes like riddles, jokes, puzzles, stories, chitchat and much more.
A live comedy show was also presented by Pakistan’s famous comedian Ghaffar Lehri. The audience needed laughter during these testing times and Lehri successfully managed it with his funniest comic acts providing viewers, especially children, with amazing entertainment.
The event also featured a magic show featuring Pakistani professional illusionist and magician Munawar Khan. He showed his jaw-dropping talent by combining illusions and mentalism together to show thrilling and sophisticated magic of unprecedented proportions.
Local singer Jamshed Shahzad Bajwa, with his melodious voice, lifted the programme to the next level. He selected evergreen songs to lighten the mood and lower stress levels.
A short play titled ‘Ghubaray Wala’ (Balloon Man) featuring Sohni Dharti Future Leader Abdul Manan Rao and Shabbir Siddiqui was well-liked by the audience. The play reflected the miseries of the vulnerable and daily wagers during the pandemic.

Senior community members, guests, participants and children expressed their views and appreciated Sohni Dharti ExCom for their efforts in arranging
such an event during these difficult times.
