Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani headed the chamber’s delegation participating in the 131st meeting of the Union of Arab Chambers and the 55th meeting of the Federation of GCC Chambers convened in Dubai.
The meetings were attended by a number of chairpersons and board members of Arab and GCC chambers.
In a statement to the press, the QC chairman stressed Qatar’s support for the joint Arab work in all fields. He said that Qatar Chamber supports all efforts aiming at developing intra-Arab trade and increasing joint Arab investments.
He also pointed out the continuing coordination between Arab chambers of commerce and industry and the efforts made by the Union of Arab Chambers to enhance trade among Arab countries and mutual investments and achieve the desirable Arab economic integration.
The 131st meeting of the Union of Arab Chambers discussed many issues and topics such as reviewing activities of the Union during the last period and reports and recommendations of the financial and executive committees and Joint Chambers Affairs Committee.
The meeting also discussed the final accounts of the Union and the auditors report and a report of the General Secretariat on the financial situation of the Union for the year 2020, as well as a statement of subscriptions and dues on member chambers and the estimated budget for the year 2021.
The 55th meeting of the Federation of GCC Chambers reviewed many topics that aim at boosting economic and commercial cooperation among GCC states.
It also discussed the draft annual report of the General Secretariat of the Federation for the year 2021, updates of the establishment of the new headquarter of the Federation, the final accounts of the General Secretariat for the year 2020, and the appointment of an auditor for the year 2021.
Qatar Chamber’s delegation included QC Second Vice-Chairman Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba and board members Abdulrahman Abduljaleel Abdulghani and Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli.
QC General Manager Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi was also present at the meetings.
