MES Indian School on Saturday organised the graduation ceremony via virtual platform to bid farewell to its 2020-2021 batch of Class XII students.
A total of 513 students took part in the ceremony that marked the culmination of their secondary school education.
K. Abdul Karim, president of MES Governing Board was the chief guest, while Kashif Jaleel, director of Academics and M.C Muhamed, director of Cultural and Co-curricular Activities, MES Governing Board, were the guests of honour on the occasion.
In his address, the chief guest urged the outgoing students to be adventurous and ambitious about attaining their goals in life and to use discretion as the paths of life are diverse.
M.C Muhamed reminded the students about the transitory nature of life and appealed to them to adopt perseverance and hold fast the great ideals of MES such as sincerity, honesty and hard work in their pursuit of future prospects.
MES Principal Hameeda Kadar congratulated the students for their successful completion of school years despite the unprecedented challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic and urged them to grab every opportunity that comes their way, and work in a dedicated manner to make their dreams a reality.
Students’ representatives Sooraj Suresh Babu and Lilian Biji expressed their gratitude and highlighted the significant role and valuable contributions of their alma mater in preparing them to face the future successfully. Although the overriding tone on the occasion was cheerful, the students expressed some tinge of sadness about parting from their schoolmates and beloved teachers.
Representing teachers, D.A.S. Rex, coordinator of the Department of English, delivered an inspiring speech. A medley of songs, dance performances in fusion, instrumentation and video presentations lent a musical treat to the celebration.
All the major student officials, prefects, club secretaries and Campus Care Force (CCF) members were presented certificates for their contributions to the school.
The best outgoing students of various streams of Class XII, who excelled in their respective areas, were honoured with certificates and mementos.
Sooraj Suresh Babu (Science) and Mohd. Ali Irshad Baqri (Commerce) were adjudged as the best outgoing students in the boys’ section, while Gayana Sam Santhakumar (Science) and Chandini Sagar (Commerce) won the best outgoing student title in the girls’ section of the school.
Miss Farah Shameer bagged the best outgoing student title in the Humanities Stream. Punit Pande (Boys) and Nandini Rajgopal were declared the best all-rounders for their overall efforts in both scholastic and co-scholastic activities.
Jayasankar K.S and Archa Krishna Nair won the Talent of the Year award. Mohammed Ramees Shaikh, Alvin P Joy, Nihan Kadar and Nidhi .N. Bhatt won the Best Sports Talents of the year.
Derik Saldanha and Fatima Bilal Ashraf were adjudged as the best outgoing prefects. Aiman and Afiya Gull were declared the best outgoing CCF (Campus Care Force) members of the school.
Shibin Shaji and Zainab Siddiqui received the best outgoing Scout and Guide merits, respectively.
Others present on the occasion were Khaleel A.P, vice-president; Abdul Fathah, director of Sports and Games, M.E.S Governing Board; members of the school Governing Board and the school officials.
Earlier, the school head girl BhavanaBiju welcomed the attendees.
Rema Devi, coordinator of the Department of English, compered the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
The ICT Department of the school ensured the smooth conduct of the event on the online platform. The event was made available live on the school’s Facebook account.
