Renowned international motivational speaker Megh Mani inspired participants of the ninth edition of ‘Ignite Possibilities’ series by ICC Advanced Toastmasters Club-Qatar with a talk on the topic of ‘Mindfulness’.
Mani hails from the south Indian state of Kerala and works as a Learning and Development Specialist at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).
Starting his presentation with a blooming lotus, which represents a mindful mind, he said, "The mind is like a parachute. It works best when it is open.”
He went on to explain his journey through mindfulness.
Mani also outlined aspects of the conscious mind and the subconscious mind, leading to various mind patterns that evolve throughout human life that control mindset and wellbeing of people.
He also gave a detailed picture of the benefits of mindfulness, which include reducing stress, boosting immunity, increasing empathy, managing chronic pain and many more.
He further explained mindful meditation, which is about being present with oneself and drawing energies and peace to focus on oneself.
"It is about knowing and understanding thing beyond this realm and practising it every day. It is about suspending judgements and understanding the presence and the working of one’s mind and approaching our experiences with warmth and kindness,” he said.
Leading the group through various meditation exercises, he described the flight and fight syndrome, as well as mindful sleeping and mindful eating.
The keynote session was followed by a riveting question and answer session.
DTM Ram Mohan Rai, an educationist and trainer, anchored the session.
The attendees included international dignitaries including Vijaya Monteiro from Mumbai, CA Akbar Shaikh from Canada, CA Satyamoorthy from Kenya, CA Mani Lakshanmoorthy from Bahrain and Andrew P Bennett from the UK.
Ignite Possibilities is the monthly flagship event of ICC Advanced Toastmasters. Mani is a fun-filled, enthusiastic trainer and coach who uses knowledge and skills from his own life experience to blend the concepts of hospitality in the healthcare industry to bring in a change in health care for better patient care.
