QATAR Rail took part in a blood donation campaign held at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) mobile unit at its headquarters recently.
Employees from Qatar Rail's landmark projects volunteered to donate blood in the one day event in order to show their support for the national blood donation campaign launched by HMC in response to the growing demand for blood.
Qatar Rail's Deputy Chief Executive Officer Hamad al Bishri commented:"Voluntary blood donation is extremely important and we were proud to see a large number of Qatar Rail employees visit the mobile blood donation unit. We wanted to encourage blood donation as well as do our part to benefit the lives of patients in Qatar."
Bishri also spoke about the experience."I would encourage people to donate blood. It doesn't take long and isn't painful. The blood donation mobile unit also makes it very convenient. The thought of being able to help save people's lives is inspiring and that's why so many of us at Qatar Rail took the opportunity to give blood. It's our way of giving back to the local community."
Qatar Rail's support is part of its commitment to serve the local community. Once completed, its ambitious project will help ensure better standard of living and quality of life for Qatar's people. The rail network will improve journey times, alleviate congestion and road traffic, reduce carbon dioxide emissions and offer better connections which will ultimately help improve the health and well-being of the nation, changing the way people live, work and do business in Qatar.
Qatar Rail is also committed to providing the highest standards of workers' welfare and bagged 'Best Company for Workers Welfare 2015' award during a ceremony held earlier this year.
