It's been a truly enriching and rewarding journey for us at Qatar Tribune, as the newspaper celebrates its 10th anniversary today.
It's an overwhelming milestone for our team members, many of whom have been with the newspaper for much of this time. It's also an exciting milestone for our loyal readers, whose support, dedication and loyalty have shaped the growth of Qatar Tribune in this period as we went about embracing changes, innovating and moving ahead with the times.
These 10 years, during which we were able to achieve nonstop progress, backed by professional competence and self-motivation, have been momentous in every sense of the term.
That we have been able to strike a rapport with the readers reflects in the ever-growing circulation numbers. No wonder our newspaper is today considered an integral part of the lives of a very large number of citizens and residents, who start their day with Qatar Tribune, in our beloved country of Qatar.
In many ways, Qatar Tribune has been a pioneer in the Qatari media landscape. When it was launched, it was the first newspaper in Qatar to be published on Fridays and the first to devote a full supplement for local news coverage. Later on, it also became the first Qatari newspaper publishing standalone sports and business supplements as well as the first paper to focus on news relating to various communities on a daily basis, in addition to dedicating a weekly page, Liwan, to Qatari culture to help non-Arab readers gain a deeper understanding of the cultural and social life in the country.
Emanating from our belief that evolution is the norm of life, we are determined to continue our march of progress and modernisation to live up to the aspirations of our readers and advertisers alike, and to realise our ambitions as journalists first and foremost; to always be 'first with the news' as well as highlight any problems and issues requiring corrective measures and make efforts to addressing them whenever possible.
We have recently rolled out a comprehensive update of our e-services out of our belief in the crucial role that digital journalism and social media play in disseminating information in today's world. To date, we have attracted nearly 45,000 fans and followers on Twitter and Facebook. Our official website continues to witness a massive number of visits following its last update, with some of our news articles garnering more than 50,000 views in a single day.
As our readers have come to expect from us every year, we intend to bring in several new features and new services in the coming weeks to meet our readers' high expectations, and provide them with a distinctive news service.
In addition to shedding light on the activities of new and growing communities, we will also enhance our investigations and reports that address shortcomings wherever found, as well as focus on the positives, as the media's message ought not to be solely about criticism for the sake of it.
Moreover, we will soon give our readers the opportunity to more effectively share their experiences with us, by offering them a dedicated weekly space that empowers them to express their opinion or criticism of any goods, services or providers that fail to fulfil their obligations towards them according to the law, as long as we are given supporting evidence. The upcoming developments will undoubtedly include updates and improvements to our Sports, Business and Chill Out supplements, with subtle yet attractive redesigns and changes in format, in addition to improvements in content, with more articles, analyses, and local news features.
Once again, thank you dear readers for choosing our newspaper as your trusted source for up-to-date news throughout the last decade of journalism, with a personal promise to always strive to meet your expectations and aspirations; for Qatar Tribune to continue to be what you've always envisioned:"First with the News and What's Behind it".
