The Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) have kick-started the new season with the much-awaited Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament which began on September 10th at the West Bay Cricket Grounds with the finals (Premier Division) set to take place at the Asian Town Cricket Ground in Industrial Area on December 3, 2021.
Qatar Airways are the title sponsor for the annual tournament which features 56 teams competing for top honours across three divisions. Over the years, the tournament has attained new heights and featured talented cricketers from Qatar’s diverse expatriate community.
The QCA board has expressed its gratitude to Qatar Airways for its support in bringing people from various backgrounds together and for providing an exciting platform to local enthusiasts to exhibit their passion for cricket.
Qatar Cricket Association President, Mr. Yousuf Jeham Al Kuwari, said: "We are highly optimistic about the level of competitiveness and the sporting spirit that will be on display in this season’s Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament. We owe a great deal of our progress to Qatar Airways and HE Mr. Akbar Al Baker, who have helped bolster our progress in achieving our goals over the years. We hope to continue making strides in developing the sport for years to come.”
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: "For many years, Qatar’s expat community has long been passionate about cricket.
The development of the sport has reached new heights within the local community.
