Doha Municipality closed 10 food outlets after a recent inspection campaign that saw food inspectors raiding more than 4,800 establishments, the Ministry of Municipality said on Wednesday.
Municipal authorities also sent 214 samples of withdrawn food items for analysis, it added.
These efforts come within the framework of intensifying inspection campaigns in all areas of Doha and the industrial area, where the focus is on food manufacturing, packaging and distribution companies, to ensure their commitment to implementing health requirements by following up on all stages of the food chain, starting with the inspection of raw materials, methods of receiving and storing them, Through the stages of preparation, processing and packaging, and ending with the storage and transportation of the final product, in addition to ensuring the extent to which workers in those institutions apply healthy and sound methods in handling food, and the extent of attention to personal hygiene, to reach the highest levels of food safety.
