THE Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has eased some precautionary measures in line with the plan to gradually lift the restrictions imposed to combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). These measures include governmental and private kindergartens, schools and higher education institutions.
Starting from Sunday, October 3, kindergartens, schools and higher education institutions will return to study with full attendance of students at 100 percent of the approved capacity of the school and the university building. At the same time they will adhere to social distancing between students, a minimum of one metre at all times, observe physical distancing in employee rooms and offices, and make sure to leave a safe distance between the employee and his colleague.
All students and administrative and teaching staff are required to wear a mask while in schools and higher education institutions.
The ministry also affirmed the need to continue applying the bubble system in study and transportation and allowing the use of buses to transport students with a capacity of 75%, while continuing with the attendance and absence policy, adhere to precautionary measures such as washing hands and sanitising them and disinfecting surfaces with sterilizers.
The ministry stressed the importance of adhering to the precautionary decisions and measures related to the implementation of the fourth phase of the plan to lift the precautionary restrictions.
The ministry emphasised that students aged 12 and above, and staff and teachers in schools, kindergartens and higher education institutions, who have not completed their doses of the COVID-19 vaccine nor recovered from COVID-19, will be required to conduct weekly COVID-19 rapid antigen or PCR tests.
