Tehran: Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on Wednesday that Tehran would take unspecified measures if stalled negotiations to revive the 2015 nuclear deal fail.
He said Iran does not want talks just for the sake of talks but concrete action that will benefit the country, especially its economy, which has been crushed by US sanctions.
Amir Abdollahian called on the US to release some of Iran’s frozen bank accounts abroad “as a sign of goodwill” ahead of an anticipated new round nuclear talks in Vienna, according to Iranian media. The minister did not specify what actions Iran would take should Washington not meet its demands. There was speculation in Iran that the threat could mean an expansion of nuclear projects.
