Education City Golf Club recently hosted the Juniors 2nd tournament on the Par 3 Course, which was held on September 25, with the continued support of Commercial Bank. Pro-Am tournament is viewed as an important
component in developing and encouraging children to play golf on the course with local PGA Professionals.
Over the last few years, Education City Golf Club has been building a strong golf development programme. More than 100 children are now actively playing and learning golf as a result of the program. The golf club launched a junior programme called ‘Play to Par’ in 2020, with the goal of instilling in children a ‘playing’ mindset through the establishment of targets and goals for progression. As the child’s golf skills improve and develop, the targets are gradually increased to more attainable levels by introducing course playing skills.
The 2nd Commercial Bank Par 3 Pro AM was created to aid in the development of children in Qatar.
A friendly competition was held between socially distant golf games with four participants in each group. A warm but enjoyable afternoon on the golf course, with some fantastic golf skills displayed by all of the Education City Golf Club’s promising golf talents.
Michael Braidwood – General Manager said, “The Commercial Bank Play to Par Program has been progressing beyond our expectations. We now have a vibrant Junior golf membership and program with children as young as five years of age, actively playing on the golf course. The key has been implementing shorter tee markers which makes the game more enjoyable for beginners and juniors to compete against each other.”
The tournament winners were as follows:
1st Place: Nico James-Visser Pro, Daniil Sokolov, Ryan Holland-Flynn, Otto Bulow / -29
2nd Place: Pratyush Jain Pro, Emile Gonzalvez, Nelson Guo / -24
3rd Place: Rhys Beecher Pro, Aayat Shah, Chloe McLelland, Maya Markovic/ - 22
