The Qatar National Identity Zone–Historia Art Collective, was recently inaugurated at DPS Modern Indian School by the emerging Qatari artist Noof Al Naama. The event was held in accordance with COVID–19 protocols.
The Department of Qatar History and the Department of Art at DPS Modern Indian School collaborated to create a beautiful mural gallery to promote Qatar’s national identity and instill awareness among students.
Inaugurating the mural gallery and addressing the audience, chief guest Noof, a student at VCUarts Qatar and the granddaughter of the pioneering Qatari artist Jassem Zaini, stressed how art inspires her and recalled her grandfather’s words ‘keep drawing, no matter what’.
She also stressed that young students must not halt in the face of struggles and challenges, but must keep pushing through obstacles to strive for their passion and goals.
Noof appreciated the Art Integrated mode of learning at DPS Modern Indian School, and was awed by all that the school does to create a happy and art-loving atmosphere for its students.
Four art teachers whose painstaking efforts brought to life the heritage sites, architectural marvels and the scenic skyline of Doha, their painted murals were honoured with certificates of appreciation by the chief guest.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Principal Asna Nafees, Vice-President of the school Yasir Nainar, the vice-principals, headmistresses and the academic and activity coordinators.
Head Girl of the Junior School Inshirah Akthar compered the event, while the Head Boy of the Junior School Master Sanjeev Sundararaj welcomed the guests and shed light on the Qatar National Vision 2030 through his speech.
Handcrafted exhibits of various heritage sites and landmarks of Qatar, students dressed in traditional Qatari attire and an Indo–Arab fusion dance were a perfect addition to the event.
