A number of Filipino professional organisations participated in a badminton tournament as part of the PPO-Q Sportsfest 2021 held at the Qatar Volleyball Association recently. The event, aimed at promoting camaraderie and sportsmanship among its member organisations, was chaired by PICPA Doha LLC (G) through the leadership of President Abdul Rahim Gandamra.
In his opening remarks, Gandamra expressed delight for the privilege of being the organising committee for this year’s Sportsfest Badminton Tournament.
He said, "Thank you to PPO-Q’s Chairman Engineer Adonis Talabo for this initiative which its main goal and objective is to strengthen and enhance the bonds between professionals, promote camaraderie among members and provide a venue outlet for physical activities which are essential to members’ whole being and wellness.”
The participants were from the Association of Filipino Educators Qatar (AFEQ), Filipino Association of Respiratory Practitioners Qatar (FILARPQ), Filipino Radiologists Association in Qatar (FILRAQ), Institute of Electronics and Communications Engineers of the Philippines Qatar (IECEP-Q), Integrated Engineers of the Philippines-State of Qatar Chapter (IIEE-SQC), Nutritionist Dietitians Association of the Philippines-Qatar (NDAP-Qatar), Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers Qatar Chapter (PICE-Qatar), Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants Doha LLC(G) (PICPA Doha), Philippine Nurses Association in Qatar (PNA-Q), United Architects of the Philippines (UAP-Qatar).
Also present at the event were Philippine Labour Attaché to Qatar Adam A. Musa and Philippine Professional Organization - Qatar (PPO - Q) Chairman Engr. Adonis Q. Talabo.
The fun-filled tournament saw a number of badminton enthusiasts in action, both men and women from across ages. The event concluded with an awarding ceremony wherein the roster of winners included John Paul Ben Silang, Jake Paul Llamas and Romnick Mabazza of PNA-Q, Rey Barcena and Virgel Bucalid II of PICPA Doha and Gregorio Balleta of PICE-Q for the Individual Men’s Division.
For the Individual Women’s Division, the winners were Beverly Bermejo, Rhio Odtujan, Cristalee Sudara of PNA-Q, Allyson Navarro and Lot Behenia of FILRAQ, and Rotinie N. De La Torre of PICPA Doha.
Additionally, a special award was given to Virgel Bucalid II and Rotinie N. De La Torre of PICPA Doha for bagging the MVP award for men and women’s division category, respectively. A special award of being the Most Friendly were also awarded to Jeffrey Dela Cruz of FILRAQ and Mikee Alonto Disomimba of PNA-Q.
PPO-Q is a non-profit professional organisation of all Filipino licensed and aspiring to be licensed professionals in Qatar.
Created to facilitate the overseas special licensure examination in Qatar, the organisation had also evolved to cater the immediate needs and concern of the Filipino community as well as to develop cooperation among the various professional groups. It is the umbrella organisation of various Filipino professional organisations such as architects, certified public accountants, civil engineers, dentists, electrical engineers, electronics engineers, geodetic engineers, master plumbers, mechanical engineers, nurses, nutritionist/dieticians, optometrists, radiologists, respiratory practitioners and teachers. PPO-Q is recognised by the Philippine Embassy and Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Doha.
