At least 20 people were killed in clashes between Somalia’s armed forces and a militia group in the centre of the country, officials confirmed. Somali military commander Mascuud Warsame told dpa that they had lost five soldiers, while 12 militiamen had also been killed.  Meanwhile medical official Sayid Ali told dpa that three civilians, including a child, had also been killed in the deadly clashes.  The fighting occurred in the city of Guriel, the economic centre ofGalmudug state. Regional forces, backed by the federal army, entered the city in order to remove a militia group that had infiltrated Guriel.
