AP Sharma, former principal of Birla Public School (BPS), was accorded farewell and felicitation from the Indian diaspora. Apex bodies of the Indian Embassy, including the Indian Culture Centre (ICC), ICBF and Youth Forum, as well as the Students Forum, felicitated Sharma at a function, followed by Science India Forum and Qatar Chapter of Indian school principals.
The school management also bid farewell where T Angeline Premlata, counsellor; Sachin Shankpal, first secretary; Capt. Mohan Atla; and S. Xavier Dhanraj, first secretary, felicitated Sharma along with the school management members Gope Shahani, chairman; and CV Rappai and Lukose K Chacko, directors.
The chief guest on the occasion, Sachin Sankpal, first secretary at the Indian Embassy, and Baburajan, president of ICC, appreciated Sharma’s contribution to the educational field in Qatar and for efficiently guiding students in Doha in examination boards and schools. Hasan Chougule lauded his attitude of sharing best practices with all schools, while Sayyed Shoukat Ali called it a personal loss and loss to the education fraternity.
Sharma was presented with a shawl and memento by the dignitaries. Students of different schools also expressed their gratitude under the banner of the Student Forum of the ICC.
Science India Forum also felicitated him with a memento during another function. Dr. Deepak Dhake, president of the forum, praised Sharma for his valuable support and guidance. Dr Mohan Thomas spoke about his innovative ideas and best practices for uplifting and empowering teachers, students and parents. Sharma mentioned that his tenure at the BPS had been a golden period and expressed gratitude to school management and the Indian diaspora for the overwhelming farewell and felicitation.
