Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and Silatech have signed a collaboration agreement to enhance access to job opportunities for its student and alumni community.
Under the two-year agreement, HBKU Student Affairs will introduce Silatech’s support services across campus, giving the academic community access to the Ta3mal portal for training and employment.
Ta3mal was launched by Silatech and Microsoft in 2012, and offers online access to career guidance, soft-skills, e-learning, as well as jobs, internship opportunities and entrepreneurship training. In turn, HBKU will engage its network of local partners to provide job vacancies and internships.
HBKU students will benefit from Silatech’s career guidance program Tamheed, which offers online psychometric and language assessments that help identify gaps and match specific skills and preferences with the right career.
Silatech will also strive to enhance the employability skills of HBKU students/alumni through a series of workshops.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Dr Maryam H. Al Mannai, vice-president for Student Affairs at HBKU, said: "We are looking forward to working with Silatech because our objectives align perfectly to develop our students’ capabilities and their full scope of skills so they can excel in their chosen fields. With the constructive support from Silatech’s initiatives, our graduates will be equipped to make the most of the academic grounding that distinguishes them as change-makers. A well-trained and qualified workforce is for the benefit of Qatar and its key sectors.”
Silatech CEO Hassan Ali AlMulla said, "Our agreement with Hamad Bin Khalifa University is highly valued as it officially launches Silatech’s Youth Employment Initiative in Qatar, Al Amal Bil Amaal. We are very pleased to work together with HBKU as a strategic partner to facilitate access to the job market through leadership training and skills development.
"Our initiative will connect HBKU students and alumni with the resources, guidance, training and job opportunities to help them launch careers or advance their entrepreneurship capacity in today’s dynamic and highly competitive job market.”
