Abdul Rehman is a prodigy in the true sense of the word. It’s incredible to think how talented he is for his age -- he is just 12. A self-taught artist, he has an extraordinary talent to express emotions through his sketches and paintings.
Born in Qatar, Abdul Rehman, a student of Swiss International School, is the youngest among his two siblings.
“I believe art is open to all ages, everyone. Art holds no limits to express oneself and inspire others,” said the art prodigy.
The young artist from Pakistan developed a keen interest in painting at a very young age and it’s almost unbelievable, but true, that he began painting when he was just six years old. His parents have been living in Qatar for the past 14 years. His father, Humayun Paracha, is engaged with Qatargas in an engineering advisory role and his mother, Mariam Paracha, has been actively aiding integration of Pakistani women into Doha’s society.
Abdul Rehman is among those gifted artists who never got any formal training but got recognised and appreciated with his masterpieces of art. From a very young age, he has been inspiring others with his beautiful paintings and his love for art is for all to appreciate.
Rehman is seen as a source of inspiration for thousands of children who wish to take up a career in arts. With his distinguished art pieces, he has participated in several international competitions, most lately, in the United Nations and the London Contemporary Arts competitions.
His artwork is inspired by human emotions and God’s nature. He is greatly impressed by Picasso, Vincent Van Goh and John Singer Sargent. Skilled in using oil paints and beautifully conveying messages via them, his passion propels him towards new and interesting opportunities of growth.
Along with his growing interest in painting portraits, the young boy has begun exploring various types of mediums and varnishes, different styles of brushes, and a variety of painting surfaces so that he can yield the best version of his artwork. His strongest source of creative inspiration comes from historic events which is why he often hand picks pieces of wood and stones and crafts them into his own antique creations.
Rehman’s artworks seem to be paintings of an artist with decades of experience as he has a remarkable ability to merge imagination into reality through his artistry. He is currently building his own slingshot, a commonly used weapon in Medieval Europe.
Besides arts, he is fond of fishing and cooking. “Every trip you’ll make and every fish you’ll catch is so joyful and memorable,” remarked the young artist. Not only does he cook the fish he catches but he also loves cooking many delicious dishes, mainly following the internationally renowned Chef Gordon Ramsay.
He has plans to pursue specialised studies in arts from the United Kingdom and France.
“I wish to open my own art gallery and showcase my paintings and other talented young artists,” said Rehman, who encourages others to take up the path of art and explore their talents from an early age.
