Lulu Hypermarket Qatar, the leading retailer of the region which is on an aggressive expansion drive, opened its 16th store in Qatar on Wednesday. The new store on Salwa Road, Al Aziziya has strengthened Lulu’s presence in the region with a state-of-the-art retail space of 100,000 square feet spread over two levels.
The newly launched branch was inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Ali Bin Abdul Aziz Al Ahmad Al-Thani in the presence of invitees including Sheikh Hassan bin Kahled Al Thani, Sheikh Mohamed bin Ahmed MA Al Thani, Jaber Ahmed KH Al Sulaiti, Mohamed Taleb Al Khauri, Doha Bank Group CEO R Seetharaman, Abdulla Abdul Razak, Doha Bank Chief Wholesale Banking Officer Ala Azmi Abumughli, Commercial Bank of Qatar Corporate Senior Relationship Manager Prashant Jalan and several dignitaries from various sectors.
Lulu Group International Chairman and Managing Director Padma Shri Dr Yusuff Ali MA, Lulu Group International Executive Director Ashraf Ali MA, Lulu Group International Director Dr Mohamed Althaf, and other senior executives of Lulu Group were also present on the occasion.
Set within a vast and growing community and conveniently located on the Salwa Road, the 220th hypermarket of the Group is spread over an area of about 100,000 square feet and will serve the residents of Al Aziziya and its surrounding areas with easy access and ample parking in the basement and backside of the building.
The new store features a shopping environment highlighting modern aesthetics and will facilitate access to all essentials that are necessary for a household, at highly modest prices.
With the launch of the new branch, Lulu has renewed its commitment to its large multi-ethnic clientele with a congenial shopping experience. Lulu management has expressed their gratitude to all governmental authorities and clientele for their whole-hearted support that has made them achieve this phenomenal growth.
Speaking after the inauguration, Yusuff Ali said, “We are very happy to unveil our latest hypermarket in Qatar, which will bring the world-class shopping nearer to people. It has always been our desire to make the LuLu brand easily accessible to our shoppers on Salwa Road, Al Aziziya and adjacent areas, so they do not need to drive a long distance.”

Speaking on the occasion, Althaf said, “The opening of Lulu Hypermarket at Al Aziziya brings the number of Lulu stores in Qatar to 16 and this phenomenal growth is a solid proof of the strategic importance of Qatar to our business plans and our confidence in the resilience and future of Qatar’s economy, and this would not have been possible without the help and support of the governmental authorities and customers.”
The new store showcases a wide variety of globally sourced premium-quality products, such as food and lifestyle essentials, from groceries to fresh food, health and beauty variety, home needs, electronics, and much more.
Its product range is backed up by the Group’s own food sourcing and manufacturing facilities across 22 countries, which ensures well-stocked warehouses and uninterrupted food supply at the most affordable prices.
Organic and ‘free from worry’ food ranges and other speciality food imported from around the world are available on the shelves. The new store will also have a dedicated area to support local initiatives and stock all Qatari products on a priority basis.
