The College of the North Atlantic–Qatar (CNA-Q) held a certificate-distribution ceremony for the coaches and training officers from the National Service Academy (NSA), following the completion of a two-month training programme on ‘Health and Wellness’.
Dr Salem Al-Naemi, CNA-Q president; Major General Saeed Hamad Alnuimi, Commander of the National Service Academy; First Lieutenant Ahmed Hassan Ashir, who is responsible for physical development at NSA; and Dr Jean Moraros, dean of the School of Health Sciences at CNA-Q, were present on the occasion.
The School of Health Sciences tailored the programme for NSA trainers intending to develop their skills in health and wellness. Fourteen NSA trainers participated in the programme and followed courses on nutrition and exercise, and the role that both play in improving health and wellness. The Participants also reviewed common mental health concerns and learned techniques that help in stress management. In the practical section, the participants completed a CPR training and obtained their CPR provider certificate by AHA (American Health Association). School of Health Sciences at CNA-Q is an accredited centre for AHA which provides training to many community and clinical stakeholders in Qatar.
In his speech Saeed Hamad Alnuimi said: “NSA partners with many stakeholders at the national level to develop its programmes. Our collaboration with School of Health Sciences at CNA-Q is a special partnership that we value. CNA-Q is considered one of the leading educational institutions in the region and a partner of choice for developing our programs. We extend our thanks to Dr Salem Al-Naemi, CNA-Q’s president and everyone who has been involved in this programme.”
Dr Salem Al-Naemi said: “This collaboration is the result of the MoU that we signed with NSA in March 2021. The agreement puts forward action points that explore joint initiatives and experience exchange in the fields of education, research, training and development in addition to conducting customised teaching programmes and academic initiatives. Today, we celebrate the conclusion of one of these programmes, ‘Health and Wellness’, devised by our School of Health Sciences for the NSA trainers. I would like to thank Saeed Hamad Alnuimi, commander of the National Service Academy for his trust in CAN-Qand for the strong collaboration that permitted us to set a solid foundation for this important training programme.”
Dr Jean Moraros said: “This promising collaboration between CNA-Q and NSA significantly contributes to the academic development of the NSA coaches and training officers, and helps highlight our true partnership in serving the best interests of Qatar.”
