Vienna Former Austrian interior minister Karl Nehammer has been sworn in as the country’s new chancellor, heading a coalition government between his centre-right Austrian People’s Party (OeVP) and the Greens.
The 49-year-old Nehammer, known as an advocate of strict limitations on migration, was sworn in by Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen on Monday and succeeds Alexander Schallenberg, who was in the post for just two months following the resignation of chancellor Sebastian Kurz. Schallenberg will now return to his post as foreign minister. (Agencies)
