Children and families are in for a treat during the coming Eid Al Adha festivities with the opening of the Splash Water Park, replete with thrilling rides and several other fun-filled activities, at the Katara beach.
The 7,000-square metre park will run for two months. It will be open to the public from 3 pm to 12 midnight. A one-day pass costing QR100 enables the visitors to enjoy most of the activities at the park apart from the zip-line.
Speaking to the media after the opening, Katara Deputy General Manager of Operations Ahmad Abdulrahman Alsayed said,"This is the first time that we have organised this kind of an activity here. We have collaborated with Alaqat to bring some new facilities which have added value to Katara."
Alsayed said the facility meets all safety standards."We conducted a safety risk assessment for the facility."
He added that a lot of visitors are expected to flock to the park, especially during the Eid Al Adha festivities."Katara is one of the prime locations during Eid. Many visitors from Qatar and other places come to Katara. We attract around 70,000 to 100,000 visitors during Eid here. With the water park, we expect the number to go up this time."
Alaqat Events Manager Hatim Aboussid revealed that the water park at Katara is one of the first to use inflatable fixtures.
"We appreciate all the initiatives that the government and the private sector have been taking to organise events ahead of Eid. And this is our contribution," he said.
Aboussid said that that the attractions include a water park section, a first for the country, with sliders, jumpers and a water blob."There are over 30 water rides and we promise surprises every week. We also have the zip-line (a rope ride for adventure lovers). Priced at QR100, the zip-line is the first in the country," he said.
There will also be a stage which will feature live performances, competitions and other activities."Our aim is to provide families with a get-away in Doha," he said.
