Al Rayyan International University College (ARIU) in partnership with the University of Derby hosted an induction programme for newly admitted students. The programme was created to help newcomers to quickly adapt to the new academic environment and familiarise themselves with different aspects of academic and social life on campus.

Through the programme freshmen were introduced to university staff and provided with detailed information about the delivery of the academic programmes and different academic and non-academic services. Students from the BA and BSc programmes in International Business Management, International Hospitality Management, and International Tourism Management participated in the orientation.

New students were taken on a detailed tour of the university’s new campus and they met with existing students, who were very happy to share their overall experience at ARIU with the new joiners. Freshmen were introduced to some of the university’s graduates, who provided them with valuable advice and guidance about prospective career opportunities. The orientation programme was complemented with a special tour to Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani’s Museum, where students learned more about Qatar’s rich culture and history.

On the occasion, Dr Ivan Ninov, executive dean of ARIU, said: “We are very pleased and excited to welcome our new students to our beautiful new campus. With us they will be able to find their purpose, become more resilient, make friends for life, and grow into successful professionals, and entrepreneurs. Our university is very well situated to provide students with great opportunities for learning, and our location in the heart of Doha is vital to the institution’s identity and success as a business school.”

Al Rayyan International University College was formerly known as Stenden University of Applied Sciences – Qatar, which was established in 2000 under the chairmanship of Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani.
