His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan on Sunday.
At the beginning of the meeting, HH the Amir welcomed the Algerian president and the accompanying delegation, wishing him a pleasant stay, and the relations of the two countries further development and growth in various fields.
For his part, the Algerian president expressed his thanks to HH the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, looking forward to strengthen relations of cooperation to achieve the aspirations of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
During the session, they discussed bilateral relations and the ways to enhance and develop them in various fields, in addition to discussing issues of mutual interest.
HH the Amir and the Algerian president later witnessed the signing of an agreement, two memoranda of understanding and an executive programme between the two countries.
HH the Amir and the Algerian president witnessed the signing of an agreement on legal and judicial cooperation in criminal matters between the two governments, a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of political consultations and coordination between the foreign ministries of two countries, as well as a memorandum of understanding in the areas of social development and the family between the two governments.
HH the Amir and HE the Algerian President also witnessed the signing of the second executive program in the field of higher education, scientific and technological research of the educational and scientific cooperation agreement between the two countries’ governments for the academic years (2022-2025).
The talks session was attended by HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Personal Representative of HH the Amir, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Chief of Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
The talks session was also attended by Minister of Transport HE Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Municipality HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi and Minister of Social Development and Family HE Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad.
On the Algerian side, the session was attended by Minister Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals Abdul Rashid Tabbi, Minister of Energy and Mining Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelbaki Benziane, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues Kawthar Kriko, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Mohamed Abdel Hafeez Hani and Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City Tarek Belaribi.
HH the Amir and the Algerian president also held a bilateral meeting, during which they exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, as well as the latest developments.
The Algerian president had arrived earlier at the Amiri Diwan, where he was accorded an official reception.
