The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Qatar will celebrate the country’s 178th National Day today (Sunday).
Ambassador of Dominican Republic to Qatar HE Georges Basha Hazim said that February 27 is the greatest patriotic celebration day for the Dominicans within and outside the country since 1844, when a new independent state of Dominican Republic was established.
“This day, we pay tributes to the brave fathers of the Dominican Homeland: Juan Pablo Duarte, Francisco de Rosario S?nchez, Ramon Mat?as Mella and the group of young Trinitarians who dreamed of an independent homeland and did not rest until they achieved it,” he said.
He added, “Today, Sunday at 6pm, our national symbols will be projected on the emblematic buildings of the Sheraton Hotel and the Torch Tower.”
Ambassador Hazim said that the Dominican Republic continues developing and strengthening its relations with Qatar in great depth by bringing the two countries together at the economic, commercial, social, academic and cultural levels. “This was confirmed with the visit of the Dominican Vice-President Raquel Pe?a to participate in the Dominican Week in Qatar in November 2021, when she met with the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani”.
The Dominican Republic envoy sent, on his and on behalf of his team in the embassy, ‘Happy National Independence Day’ greetings to the Dominican diaspora residing in Qatar, for representing the Dominican Republic and its values with their hard work.
