The General Directorate of Civil Defence launched its updated fire and life-safety manual at a function held at the Officers’ Club of the Directorate yesterday.
Director General of Civil Defence Brigadier Hamad Othman Al-Duhaimi, directors and officers of the departments and several representatives of consulting offices and contracting and engineering companies attended the event.
"The Civil Defence Technical Requirements Manual 2022 is the result of the efforts made by members of the committee assigned to prepare the manual for more than two years. The manual includes all engineering requirements related to prevention systems in buildings,” said Brigadier Hamad Othman Al-Duhaimi, Director General of Civil Defence.
He added that the manual has been updated with some new requirements to keep pace with the urban development in the country and announced the start of application of these guidelines. The Brigadier also thanked all government and private agencies for their contribution in updating the fire and life safety manual.
During the inauguration, an introductory video was shown highlighting the efforts of the working team assigned with preparing the guidelines, the stages of its completion, and the most important updates that were made regarding building requirements and standards for protection systems.
The Director-General of Civil Defence honoured the engineers of the consulting offices who participated in preparing and reviewing the Civil Defence Technical Requirements Manual 2022.
On the sidelines of the Manual launch, the General Directorate of Civil Defence organised a technical workshop for specialists to introduce the design and construction requirements for fire prevention control systems.
In addition, technological developments related to firefighting systems, conditions approved by the concerned authorities in the country, and the updated technical requirements to enhance safety and protection systems in buildings and facilities were also discussed in the workshop.
