Pakistan International School–Qatar (PIS-Q) organised a science exhibition recently. Students of Secondary and Higher Secondary came up with creative models showcasing their talent and enthusiasm for out-of-classroom activities. They applied the concepts learned in class and created innovative projects for a hands-on experience.

The exhibition gave the students an opportunity to think critically and apply laws of science to practically demonstrate their theoretical knowledge of concepts. The projects were judged by teachers of all the wings after a careful study of the mechanism and working of each project.

In the category of Class V to VIII, Azmir Azhar secured the first position while Hammad Naseeb stood second in Senior Boys Wing. In Senior Girls Wing, the projected presented by Zahra Yusufi, Zainab, Sadaf and Manahil bagged first place. Hadiya Fatima stood second while Aaidha Javed, Maham and Mania got the third place.

At the secondary and higher secondary level, projects were categorised according to scientific branches: Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. In the field of Biology, Shanza Fatima’s Covid-19 project came at the top. Fizza Iftikhar and Sadaf Amir from Senior Girls Wing, and Salman Haider and Kazim Haider from Senior Boys Wing shared the winning place in the category of Chemistry with their Water Filtration and Molecular Structure projects, respectively.

In the subdivision of Physics, Khadija and Ayesha from Senior Girls Wing and Abdullah Haroon, Imran and Abdal from Senior Boys Wing bagged the top position. Aisha Noor and Bashaer from Senior Girls Wing and Shafay Shahzad and Abdul Razzaq from Senior Boys Wing stood victorious with their video games and computer vision software.

Students of Cambridge Wing also participated enthusiastically in the exhibition. Khadijah Yousaf, Hakeemat Opeyemi and Noura Muhammad’s Robot Steward and Rumaisa Attique and Afefa Maryam’s Atmospheric Sensor secured the top position. Fatima Shahzad’s Sewage Treatment Plant and Safora Aqeel and Waaniya’s Water Purification Process shared the second place while the third place was secured by Duaa for her Newton’s Cradle project.

PISQ Principal Nargis Otho visited the venue and appreciated the students for their creativity and hard work and encouraged them to think out-of-the-box in order to develop critical thinking and logical problem-solving skills. She also applauded the teachers for their role in ensuring maximum student participation in co-curricular activities.
