Bayern Munich scored three times in the first 21 minutes and Leroy Sane got a brace as the Germans maintained their perfect Champions League record with a 5-0 demolition of Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday.

Germany winger Sane smashed the opener high into the net in the seventh minute, Serge Gnabry got the second in the 13th into the bottom right corner, and Sadio Mane the third in the 21st with a low shot after getting past several defenders.

Bayern continued to attack and in-form Sane got his second in the 50th, set up superbly by Mane’s high defence-splitting pass.

Nine minutes later substitute Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting fired a fifth for Bayern who appear well prepared for Saturday’s big Bundesliga game at Borussia Dortmund.

Five-time European champions Bayern have a maximum nine points from three games and are yet to concede in Group C which also includes Inter Milan and Barcelona who meet later in the day in Italy. Czech champions Plzen are bottom with zero points.

The other early game between Olympique Marseille and Sporting Lisbon started later because the visitors got caught in traffic on their way to the Stade Velodrome.

Other games later in groups A-D include Liverpool v Rangers, Ajax v Napoli and Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt v Tottenham Hotspur.
