Porto (Portugal): Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has left his future after the World Cup open as his team prepares to face North Macedonia on Tuesday for a place at the finals in Qatar. "Only I’ll decide my future, no one else,” he said Monday.
"If I want to keep playing, I’ll keep playing. If not then not.” At 37 years old the Manchester United forward is unlikely to feature in another World Cup if his side suffer a surprise defeat to North
Macedonia, who already sprung a huge shock by eliminating European champions Italy in the
semi-finals.
"I’m the boss,” Ronaldo insisted about his situation but said he was "very convinced” his team would make it to Qatar. "I was lying in my yesterday and thought: I’ll find it beautiful when the national anthem goes off and we then all sing without music. "I’m certain that if the fans are behind us like on Thursday (in the 3-1 semi-final win over Turkey), we will win the game.” (DPA)
