Israeli soldiers shot and killed a 21-year-old man in the occupied West Bank near Bethlehem, the Palestinian Heath Ministry in Ramallah and local media said on Monday.
The Israeli army said the soldiers had shot the man after he threw an incendiary bottle at passing cars. The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported the man was shot in the back and was at home.
WAFA also reported that a 17-year-old Palestinian had died of his injuries after being shot by soldiers in Jenin on Sunday.
The army said soldiers had been firing at the tyres of suspicious cars after intelligence indicated two brothers of the Tel Aviv attacker were in one of the vehicles.
On Thursday evening, three men were killed in Tel Aviv by a 28-year-old Palestinian from Jenin.
The soldiers had also returned fire after they were shot at from a motorcycle during the incident, the army said.
The situation in the region has been extremely tense after four attacks by Palestinians left 14 Israelis dead within two weeks. The Israeli army has stepped up its counterterrorism efforts in the occupied West Bank.
Israel plans to build a 40-kilometre barrier to the northern part of the West Bank from the Salem area in northern Samaria to the Bat Hefer region in the coming weeks. It is to replace a fence built 20 years ago during the second Palestinian uprising that now has large holes in it, according to media reports.
The security cabinet approved a sum of the equivalent of about $111 million, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s office said on Sunday evening. The wall will be up to 9 metres high and will have security technology, according to the Defence Ministry.
Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers killed two Palestinian women in separate incidents in the West Bank on Sunday, the Israeli army said.
An Israeli soldier shot dead a Palestinian woman on Sunday after she attacked him with a knife at a border post in Hebron in the West Bank, Israeli media reported, citing local authorities. The officer was slightly injured.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian woman near the city of Bethlehem in the West Bank because she was acting suspiciously, the Israeli army said.
According to the military, the victim approached the forces despite warning shots in the air and requests to stay back. The soldiers then shot her in the lower part of her body.
