Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi has honoured two students from Al Khansaa Independent Primary School for Girls for their scientific research by providing a walkway for people with special needs and the elderly on Al Wakra Public Beach.
Al Wakra Municipality has implemented the walkway -- whose idea was presented by students Al-Lala’a Shaheen and Aisha Issa -- to allow its users to reach the nearest point to the sea. In addition, it contains service facilities that adopt environmental sustainability standards, such as seats made from recycled materials.
The minister praised the idea and considered it a humanitarian initiative towards people with special needs, in appreciation of the elderly, and a sense by the two students of their social responsibility despite their young age.
She praised the idea of the walkway and the school’s support, stressing the importance of focusing on providing children with life skills and developing them, including social responsibility because of this significant impact on their success in their lives throughout the period of basic study until the transition to the university and then the labour market.
