The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies has begun preparations for the graduation ceremony of its sixth cohort of master’s students slated for May 12, 2022. The ceremony will be held in the Sports and Events Complex at Qatar University.
The total number of graduates for this year is 216, including 144 from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and 72 from the School of Economics, Administration, and Public Policies. On this occasion, Dr Abdul-Wahab Al-Effendi, President of the Doha Institute, expressed pride in the students of the sixth cohort, wishing them all success.
He congratulated the graduates who had reached the conclusion of an important stage of their lives and were preparing to start the next stage of their professional, academic, and research careers.
For his part, Dr Ibrahim Freihat, Dean of Student Affairs, said that preparations were underway to put the final touches on the graduation ceremony of a new cohort in 18 master’s programmes.
"The ceremony is a celebration of academic successes, and we are proud of this cohort’s graduation. We extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to all students for achieving the highest levels of excellence in their future careers”.
The graduation ceremony is among the established ceremonial traditions at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. Over the past years, the Institute has celebrated the graduation of the first cohort in 2017, which included 101 students, the second cohort in 2018, which included 157 students, in addition to the graduation of 161 in the third cohort in 2019. The fourth cohort included 153 graduates and the fifth cohort of 2021 included 215 graduates.
The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, which was established in 2015, is an independent institution of higher education based in Doha, Qatar. It offers internationally accredited postgraduate master’s programmes in two schools: The School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the School of Economics, Administration, and Public Policy.
It adopts a multidisciplinary approach in which the Arabic language is the primary language of study and research, and fluency in English is a requirement. The Institute also launched its PhD programme in November 2021.
