Qatar has announced that the ongoing Chadian peace negotiations in Doha, which were launched on March 13, are progressing at a good pace and making tangible progress. Qatar is a mediator in the peace negotiations.
In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the Transitional Military Council of the Republic of Chad to postpone the comprehensive national dialogue, to be held in the capital, N’Djamena, on May 10.
The ministry has clarified that the call for postponement comes on the basis of the current data in the Doha negotiations.
The postponement is aimed to give the participating parties more time to reach a peace agreement in preparation for the convening of the comprehensive national dialogue in N’Djamena.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s full support for Chad’s efforts in this political process, in order to achieve the aspirations of its people for peace, security and stability.
It also expressed its appreciation for the commitment of the Military Council and the Chadian government to the course of the Doha peace negotiations in Chad.
