Qatar University (QU), in cooperation with Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), hosted the World Cup Trophy Tour.
Students and faculty member of QU had the opportunity to see the World Cup trophy closely and took photos with the ionic World Cup trophy 2022.
The tour was organised as part of the efforts to promote the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and boost fans’ enthusiasm to watch the tournament matches and support their favourite teams, as well as instil a football culture in the community in preparation for the biggest football event of its kind.
The Auditor Qatar Company, which specialises in organising sporting events, is responsible for the FIFA World Cup 2022 Trophy tour.
Dr Hassan Al Derham, president of Qatar University, said: “Qatar University has responsibility to support all the projects of Qatar. We are holding the iconic FIFA World Cup 2022 trophy tour at our university for the QU community to enjoy and click pictures.”
He added, “The university has conducted research, studies, seminars and meetings regarding the FIFA World Cup 2022. QU had modified its plans to match this important event. It will also host the Argentina national team, which has chosen QU as its headquarters during the tournament, given its sports facilities equipped with the latest specifications and modern housing units.”
For his part, Dr Hitmi Khalifa Al Hitmi, director of Communication and Public Relations, said: “Qatar University hosting FIFA World Cup 2022 trophy tour has signified the university’s role in promoting the global sporting event a success.
“As Qatar University participates in this event, it is fulfilling its responsibilities as a national higher education institution. We all must do our best to provide the best that our generations can be proud of and which will motivate them to do better in future.”
Qatar University had welcomed the Argentine team’s choice of campus for the 2022 World Cup. The Argentine team will play in the third group, which includes Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland. A delegation from the team recently visited the university to inspect all facilities and stadiums.
