Utkalika Qatar, an Indian socio-cultural community in Qatar, celebrated the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Odisha Foundation Day recently at the ICC’s Ashoka Hall. Indian Ambassador HE Dr Deepak Mittal inaugurated the event.
Odisha, a state in India, celebrates its Foundation Day every year April 1 and this year the community members celebrated both Odisha Foundation Day and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which is celebrated as part of India’s 75th year of independence, with patriotic fervour. Utkalika President Dr Basanta Kumar Kabi welcomed the audience and shared his thoughts on the importance of staying rooted to the culture and diversity of their motherland.
The Indian ambassador felicitated the young participants of the quiz and debate competition held last year. Other prominent members of the community present at the event were Kuljeet Singh Arora, Second Secretary, information, Culture & Education; Vinod V Nair, president ICBF; and Subramanya Hebbagelu, vice president of ICC.
The evening also witnessed an array of cultural programmes with a message of cultural diversity and inclusiveness of India.
