Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA) and Qatar Chamber (QC) signed a collaboration agreement for enhancing bilateral cooperation to achieve common strategic goals and support the economic diversification plans of the State of Qatar.
The signing ceremony took place at Qatar Chamber’s headquarters on Monday, 6 June 2022.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar Free Zones Authority HE Ahmad Al Sayed and Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani.
The agreement was signed by Sheikh Mohammed H. F. Al-Thani, Deputy CEO and Chief Strategy Officer of Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA), and Qatar Chamber General Manager, Saleh bin Hamad Al-Sharqi.
QC First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari, Second Vice-Chairman Rashed bin Hamad Al Athba and a number of board
members attended the
ceremony.
The agreement aims to boost cooperation between both sides to represent Qatar with the aim to attract more investors to the country. It also aims to achieve joint strategic goals between both entities and provide support for the state’s economic diversification.
Sheikh Mohammed H. F. Al-Thani, the Deputy CEO and Chief Strategy Officer of QFZA said: “We are honoured to sign this agreement with Qatar Chamber today to cooperate and contribute jointly to promoting the attraction of foreign direct investment to the State, and to affirm our keen interest in establishing local partnerships to assist in supporting, developing, and diversifying the Qatari economy. The linkage process through the internet with Qatar Chamber and the electronic issuance of certificates of origin to companies licensed by QFZA, is also in line with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 aimed at promoting the transition to a knowledge-based economy.”
On his part, in a statement on the sidelines of the ceremony, Saleh Al-Sharqi, the General Manager of Qatar Chamber said that: “According to the agreement, the Chamber will support registered and licensed companies in QFZA to benefit from the service of issuing the Free Zones Certificates of Origin, noting that the Chamber will streamline the process of issuing such certificates thanks to the electronic link between both entities which aims to share information, issue certificates, and join hands in every possible activities that serve cooperation between the two parties.
Al-Sharqi praised QFZA’s role in supporting investment climate in the state and attracting foreign investments, pointing out that the agreement includes many areas of cooperation like organising joint seminars, fairs, conferences, and trainings, sharing information and statistics, as well as conducting research and studies.”
It is worth mentioning that QFZA provides a comprehensive and integrated platform that the Qatari private sector can take advantage of by working with international companies based in the free zones, and to expand businesses and partnerships with these companies to enter new markets regionally and globally.
