Al Rayyan International University College (ARIU) held its 19th Graduation Congregation at the Almas ballroom at City Centre Rotana on Tuesday.
The ceremony, held under the patronage of Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, celebrated the achievements of 52 bachelor’s and 16 master’s graduates and was attended by several distinguished guests, parents of graduating students, university faculty, and alumni.
ARIU is a successor of Stenden University Qatar and currently delivers high-quality internationally accredited UK undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. At the ceremony, the University graduated its last cohort of Stenden bachelor’s and master’s students in hospitality management, tourism management, and international business.
Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani congratulated the graduates and their families and said: "Today’s graduation event is certainly a moment of happiness to graduates and their families. It is also a special moment to the university, its management board, faculty, and staff as it is a contribution to the life of a person and the growth of a nation.
"Al Rayyan Investment in Education and Sport is humbly delighted to contribute to the development of higher education in Qatar and continues its commitment to provide degree programmes from top universities around the world.
"Education is not everything, you need to create strong relationships with people at work and at home. Today, you will enter society and begin your professions, and it is critical that you maintain strong community relations, take care of your decisions and personality, and be honest and trustworthy”.
In his address Dr Ivan Ninov, Executive Dean of Al Rayyan International University College, said: "By looking at our large number of prominent alumni we can say with certainty that we have been able to prepare you for a successful life and career. What is really different and special about your degrees is that they are of applied nature, and you have not only become a specialist in one of your respective fields, but have also acquired skills which you can effectively apply in your future career. The broad-based nature of you degrees has prepared you and given you the freedom to work and become successful in a number of industries”.
The ceremony included valedictorian speeches of the top graduate from the master’s programmes - Aysha Mohammad H A Arbabi, and the top graduate from the bachelor’s programmes – Dana Tagiran, followed by distribution of the degrees to all the graduates.
The ceremony concluded with the awarding of degree certificates to the graduates by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Professor Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti (General Manager of Katara Cultual Village Foundation), and Dr Ivan Ninov, Executive Dean of ARIU.
