Kings College Doha has appointed Mike Seaton, an award-winning British educator, as the school’s new principal with effect from August 2022.
Mike Seaton has led schools to consistently outstanding performances in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
In England, he served as headmaster at one of the leading independent schools in Yorkshire, the Huddersfield Grammar School, achieving its first Sunday Times rankings for academic excellence, national media attention for curricular innovation and a ‘best school’ award at the prestigious Independent Schools Association (ISA) National Awards, for ‘successful change management’.
Seaton’s success at this school resulted in his appointment to the European Executive team of global education group Cognita, where he oversaw the educational development of 12 independent schools as Director of Education (UK).
He has served in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates as Vice Principal at Brighton College, leading its Senior School from its start-up phase to its standing as one of the most academically successful British curriculum schools in the Middle East.
He has also worked in middle and senior leadership posts at British international schools in Indonesia and Thailand.
Seaton joins King’s College Doha from King’s College School Chengdu, a premium international school in China that aspires to match the standards of its famous British sister school, Kings College, Wimbledon.
On his appointment, Seaton said, “It is a privilege to have been chosen to lead King’s College Doha into the next exciting phase in its development and beyond, as we look ahead to the opening of our new state-of-the-art Mesaimeer campus and build on its many past successes.”
He added: “I am looking forward to working alongside pupils, parents, and colleagues to continue the school’s excellent work to date and implement the unique King’s vision in partnership with one of the UK’s leading private schools, King’s, UK.”
