Services being offered have improved while prices remain unchanged mostly, according to a number of citizens and garage owners. They also told Qatar Tribune that many garages are keen to give 10 percent to 20 percent discount on the maintenance value to most customers. Asked about the spares availability, they said that while spare parts of various types of cars, whether Japanese, American, German or Korean, are generally available, some parts may not be available off the shelf and in such cases, the customer is asked to wait for a while as they are sourced from their home country through the agency or websites depending on the urgency.
Qatari captain Mohammed Al-Mannai, the world champion in the two-wheel drive category and a regular customer of the Industrial Area, told Qatar Tribune that he has been visiting the same maintenance garage for a long time and relies on it to maintain his sports cars.
He said: “I advise everyone to do regular maintenance of cars and racing cars, especially, which is one of the most important factors that help keep the car away from any troubles”.
Captain Al-Mannai, the Qatari champion, is one of the people most interested in cars, especially since he is the world champion of the desert rally cup “Cross Country Rally” 2015.
Mohammed Khalifa, general manager of Auto FM Motors for car maintenance, said: “The secret behind the strength of our car services is the practice of hiring skilled technical workers who can detect the malfunction and carry out the required maintenance.
He added: “Our technicians use a computerised system to detect malfunctioning parts which they then fix or request replacement if necessary”.
Khalifa emphasised that repairing the malfunctioning part is their working principle, as it saves the vehicle owner large amounts of money. He stressed that the garage workers have high experience in maintenance and sometimes are even better than Agency maintenance centres.
He continued:” We advise all car owners to stay with their cars during the repairs because not all car technicians are professionals”.
He stated: “We offer great services to our customers such as home maintenance delivery service and free computer scan service among many others”.
Khalifa advised car owners: “Car repair prices may vary from one service centre to another, and maintenance cost also depends on the condition of your car, so you will need to look for accredited workshops that are trusted by their customers but not overpriced. Service at a reliable and accredited centre may cost a little bit more will save you a lot of repairs that you may not need”.
He added: “The way you take care of your vehicle and its maintenance has a lot to do with the number of times you need professional maintenance”.
Assaad Alshakif, general manager of Car Clinic Centre, one of the largest garages in the Industrial Area, explained: “You need to understand what car maintenance entails. During the car service session, the mechanic will assess the condition of your car’s filters, brakes, oil, electronic systems etc. The assessment will highlight any underlying problems in your car following which, the mechanic will conduct a thorough check to suggest replacement or repairs.
“Car owners do not want to always go to maintenance, because of the high costs that may not be necessary for the car, but on the other hand, carefully planning maintenance appointments can be beneficial for your car and your finances, whether it’s a gasoline, diesel or hybrid car, maintenance is necessary.”
He added that the Car Clinic Centre is a comprehensive car care centre that works on equipping the car in all respects, mechanical, electrical, painting, modification and decorating, and there is also a department dedicated to luxury cars and also auto spare parts.
The owners of the garages thanked the State for the excellent organisation of the Industrial Area and for the inspection campaigns that maintain order in the Area and asked the lessors to help reduce the rental prices of shops because they are not in keeping with the earnings.
