Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council sponsored and participated in the 19th annual meeting of the Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum in Japan.

Held from October 2 to 4, the forum brought together more than 1,000 global leaders in science and technology, policy-making, and business from more than 80 countries and regions. The meet discussed topics including energy, climate change, resource sustainability, life sciences, innovative engineering, cooperation in science and technology, technology in education, and digital society.

The STS forum conducted various events on the sidelines of the annual meeting, including dialogue between young leaders and Nobel laureates.

The QRDI delegation included two young leaders from Qatar -- Dr Mashael Al Shafai, head of Research and Graduate Studies, College of Health Sciences at Qatar University; and Dr Sami Al Ghamdi, associate professor of Sustainable Built Environment and Climate Change Resilient Critical Infrastructure, College of Science and Engineering at Hamad bin Khalifa University -- to represent Qatar in the global event and discuss pressing topics in the fields of science and technology.

QRDI’s support for the 19th annual meeting of the STS forum represents its vision for globally connected research and innovation ecosystems to collaborate and address global challenges.
