University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) appreciated its industrial partners during a ceremony that was held on the campus on Thursday.

Th event was initiated by the College of Engineering Technology and aims to show appreciation for the extraordinary contributions of these partners in the educational journey of UDST’s engineering technology students.

The event saw the presence of 30 companies from different industrial sectors such as energy, telecommunications, construction, chemical, and more. The participating companies opened their doors and welcomed UDST’s engineering technology students to experience the incredible job and career opportunities that are available.

The young talents were able to apply the technical skills and knowledge they acquired from their studies in internships and work terms and some were able to land jobs even before graduation.

Commenting on the event, President of UDST Dr Salem Al Naemi said, “As an applied university, UDST has always taken into consideration the industry’s feedback and needs before devising any programme through advisory committees that represented different industrial sectors. The academia-industry collaboration is of top importance to UDST and is one of the main drivers of research and high-quality teaching.

“Today, we wish to recognise all the efforts that have been deployed by our partners and thank them for the continuous support they show to our students and faculty. It is through such collaborations that we develop a generation of thinkers and innovators that will lead Qatar’s development and achieve its unique vision.”

University of Doha for Science and Technology has recently announced the opening of applications for the Winter 2023 Semester. Applicants can register online through the website udst.edu.qa from September 2022 to November 3, 2022.

UDST has carefully planned its programmes and educational approach to maximise the benefit for its students. The university gives them the chance to be involved in a critical and integrative learning experience through simulated environments and workplace training to gain a deeper experience in their field of study and graduate with employable skills.

UDST offers close to 60 programmes across its five Colleges: College of Engineering Technology, College of Business Management, College of Computing and Information Technology, College of Health Sciences and College of General Education.

At UDST, both Qatari citizens and children of Qatari women are exempted from tuition fees for all undergraduate programmes. This decision was announced by UDST’s board of trustees in 2020 and gave these students a chance to study at the university and benefit from top-notch applied education.

The total number of students recorded for the Fall Semester is more than 6,000.
