MBC 1 and MBC MASR 2 will soon air an Arabic version of 'Top Chef', an adaptation of the world-famous reality culinary-competition television series. During its debut season, 15 men and women from all over the Arab world will compete in a number of challenges over 13 episodes. These challenges will take place under the watchful eyes of a panel of judges, all of whom are highly regarded in the world of gastronomy celebrity Lebanese chef Maroun Chedid, Egyptian-Chinese renowned chef, restaurateur and cookbook author Bobby Chinn, and Saudi chef Mona Mosly. Every episode will feature a prominent Arab or an international guest star. Three contestants will make it to the final episode, where one of them will emerge as the top chef.
Each episode features three segments:
Quickfire Challenge: The show begins with the candidate chefs preparing a dish with specific requirements (such as the use of specific ingredients. The chef who wins this challenge is granted immunity from the next round the Elimination Challenge.
Elimination Challenge: This round sees the candidate chefs participate in a difficult culinary-related challenge, such as catering for a wedding or managing the opening of a restaurant.
Judges' Table: Following the Elimination Challenge, the candidate chefs report to the judges' table, where one or more chefs are named the winners of the day, while one chef is eliminated.
