QNADohaHH Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim al Thani, wife of HH the Amir, patronised the 2019 graduation ceremony of Qatar University's 42nd batch of female students held at the QU Sports and Events Complex on Tuesday morning.She honoured 411 students. As many as 2,468 female students have graduated from QU in various disciplines so far.Several ministers, university's administration and faculty members, parents and guests attended the ceremony. It began with the recital of verses from the Holy Quran by College of Sharia student Zainab Rahmatullah. A film about the various achievements of the university in 2019, the global rankings it has achieved and its vision for the service of society and the country in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030 was also screened.Addressing the gathering, Qatar University President Dr Hassan Rashid al Derham expressed his pride in witnessing the students graduate. He said it was a celebration and proud recognition of the value of education in Qatar. “The Qatari society aspires to achieve an advanced status among other nations, and will never forget the role of a mother who raises her young ones, the sister who struggles for her siblings and the daughter who aspires to a prosperous future.”Derham said the graduation ceremony was a testament to the importance Qatar places on its daughters.Aisha Khalid al Mulla, a student of the College of Business and Economics, delivered a speech on behalf of the graduating female students. Education, she said, was the basis on which communities and countries were built, and was the best way to build a distinct society with distinct thought. It is an effective tool to address all kinds of corruption, pointing to the wise leadership's attention and focus on education.
