For the first in a FIFA World Cup, all media – print, broadcast, radio and online will share the same media centre during Qatar 2022.

Not just that, the Main Media Centre at Qatar 2022 will also have a virtual stadium theatre where members of the media can have an immersive experience of the games when they are not at the eight state-of-the-art venues.

The Main Media Centre will also be the place from where FIFA’s VAR (Virtual Assist Referee) team will be based.

The details were provided byNasser Al Khater, CEO, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC, at a press conference marking ‘One Month To Go’ countdown ahead of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Monday.

“The iconic Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) will host the International Broadcast Centre and the Main Media Centre and will be house to 12,300 members of the media whether print, broadcast, online and radio,” he said.

“For the very first time in FIFA World Cup history there will be a virtual stadium for members of the media working from QNCC where they can have a total immersive match and stadium experience.

“Besides the 12,300 accreditated media members, there will also be 78 Media Right Licensees working out of the Main Media and International Broadcast Centre.

“The FIFA VAR (Virtual Assist Referee) centre will also be operating from QNCC.

“Additionally, at Corniche there will be 7 Outdoor Presentation Studios and Platforms with the Doha skyline in the background.

“Host country broadcasting facilities and non-accrdeditated broadcasters will work from Souq Waqif.

“For the non-accreditated media there will be a centre at Mshereib providing press will all the information, assistance and excursion tours to know about Qatar and what’s happening during the World Cup,” he added.
