Qatar Charity (QC) inaugurated the Al-Fajr Islamic Center in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to Albania HE Ali bin Hamad Al Marri; Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj; Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jalil Al Abdulghani, a Qatari philanthropist and donor to the project; Shaikh Boyar Sepahiu, head of the Islamic sheikhdom; and Nawaf Abdullah Al Hammadi, CEO’s assistant for the International Operations and Development sector at Qatar Charity.

The project is a qualitative addition in the fields of culture and education, featuring a comprehensive school for all levels, primary, preparatory and secondary, and accommodating 500 male and female students, in addition to a three-storey mosque for 1,000 worshippers.It serves more than 20,000 beneficiaries in the area where it is located.

Speaking during the inspection visit to the school, HE Ali bin Hamad Al Marri, Qatar’s to Albania, affirmed the strength of the relations between Qatar and Albania and their people, indicating that Qatar attaches great importance to strengthening relations and improving cooperation with Albania in various fields.

He added that these projects are gift from the people of Qatar, through Qatar Charity, for the people of Albania.

On his part, Mayor of Tirana praised the assistance provided by Qatar and its people to Albania. He lauded the role of Qatar Charity in implementing relief and development projects, referring to the assistance and projects implemented for those affected by the 2019 earthquake and floods and the medical aid during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

He also thanked the Amir, the government and the people of Qatar, stressing the depth and strength of the relationship between the two countries.

The donor Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jalil Al Abdulghani thanked the mayor of Tirana for his continuous support for Qatar Charity’s projects.

He underlined the importance of donating to projects that make an impact on people’s lives, noting the importance of investing in education projects.

He urged the school’s students to work hard to advance their knowledge and server their country.

During the closing speech at the ceremony, Hammadi thanked the mayor of Tirana and the Qatari ambassador for supporting Qatar Charity’s Albania office and the philanthropist Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jalil Al Abd Al-Ghani.

He said Qatar Charity will continue to implement distinguished development projects to support the Albanian people, especially in the educational field.

During the ceremony, many students and graduates of the school delivered presentations and speeches.

At the end of the ceremony, the project’s second part, which is the Al-Fajr Islamic Mosque, was inaugurated and the Friday prayer was held in it. Shaikh Boyar Sepahiu delivered the Friday sermon at the mosque.

He noted the role of Qatar, which stands by the needy, not only in Albania but worldwide, praising Qatar Charity’s efforts in building mosques and implementing other development projects.
