The Royal Grammar School (RGS) was officially opened in an induction attended by Al Qamra Holding Chairman Hamad Saleh al Qamra, the school's benefactor. RGS Principal Paul Bridges paid tribute to Qamra saying it was his passion, support and generosity that made the Royal Grammar School in Guildford possible in Qatar.
Others who attended included Al Qamra Holding CEO Dr Hossam Mostafa as well as parents and students who enjoyed the opening day with a tour of the school premises. Bridges referred to RGS as a unique school with an impressive history of providing outstanding British education for over 500 years.
He also spoke about the high standards set at the RGS, which ensure that its students are set on the path to success. He also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Education and the municipal departments that supported the opening of the school.
RGS, located in Um Salal, follows a British curriculum that was developed in RGS Guildford. The curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire children to make the most of their talents. The language of instruction is English and all the staff are highly qualified and British trained.
The school is open to girls and boys between three and six years Reception, Nursery, Year 1 and 2 with older students up to 18, to be admitted into Senior School over the coming years.
