Qatar Charity (QC) has organised a workshop on success skills -- as well as a cycling tour -- for primary school students at Lusail Sports Arena, in cooperation with Qatar Cyclists and the ‘Sport.Kha’ team.

The activities, which were part of QC’s ‘Biggest Winner’ programme and in conjunction with World Mental Health Day 2022, were attended by the students of Al Khor Model School for Boys.

The workshop aimed to develop the students’ skills and personality and reinforce their positive habits to enable them to enjoy better mental health and become useful to their community.

The workshop, delivered by Mohamed Youssef Al-Muftah, a member of Qatar Cyclists, focused on success skills, positive habits, planning, organising and continuity. It provided the students with the necessary skills to overcome obstacles, turn negative habits into positive ones, plan for and achieve goals, and follow successful scholars and educators.

Hessa Al Mohannadi, a physical education teacher at Al Khor Model School for Boys, said the school through its participation in the ‘Big Winner’ programme, aimed to provide the students with the opportunity to make exercise and physical activity a way of life to get rid of obesity. She added that QC’s programmes have provided schools with opportunities to discover talents and skills in students, and instill educational values in children through various activities.

Hamad Al-Jaidi, a trainer and operations manager at Qatar Cyclists, gave the students safety instructions and instructions for cycling, and then took them on a tour of Lusail Sports Arena.

Al-Jaidi considered ‘Biggest Winner’ one of the best programmes for students, as it educates the participants about health and the ways to balance between study and sports, and follow a healthy diet.He also praised the role of QC in organizing events and activities for children based on its attention towards their health and its keenness to contribute to creating a healthy environment for them.

“Our goal, through today’s event, is to contribute to the rejuvenation of students,” said Khalifa al-Kubaisi, leader of the ‘Sport.Kha’ team, who demonstrated some simple exercises before cycling tour.

The students expressed their happiness at participating in the ‘Big Winner’ programme and its impact on them. “I have learned to exercise daily, maintain healthy eating habits, and make physical activity a part of my daily life. The programme has helped me reduce my body weight by about 3 kilogrammes,” said a student, Turki Salem Al-Marri.

Rashid Saleh Al-Marri, another student, noted that he learned the ways to lose weight, maintain physical fitness, and follow a healthy diet.

QC launched ‘Biggest Winner’, an awareness, health and entertainment programme for primary school students last month, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Naseem Healthcare, Qatar Women’s Sports Committee and the Sport.Kha team.

The programme, which will continue until October 31, targets 177 male and female overweight students from nine primary schools.
