Qatar British Business Forum (QBBF) celebrated its 30th year in Qatar on Thursday (October 20) with a glamorous evening event hosted at the Dusit Doha Hotel Ballroom.

Around 200 QBBF members and spouses witnessed the award ceremony honouring the long-term members. QBBF’s Chairman, Emad Turkman MBE, congratulated Mike Lawton (Regatta Sailing Academy), Paul Kennedy (David Adamson), Gwen Newnham (Trinity Talent), Emma Higham (Clyde & Co), Rukhsana Khan (Westway Law), Ian Shaw (Dayim Rentals), Carly-Jane Figgis (BBR), Neil Hamilton (Quantex) and Andrew Wingfield (Simmons & Simmons) for holding a QBBF membership card for the past 15 to 28 years.

QBBF Chairman also gave an award to both Amanda Shaw and Kat Milano for their contribution to QBBF in taking care of the membership, finding sponsors and organising all the QBBF events so successfully.

He declared: “QBBF’s membership is going from strength to strength with around 350 members despite 2 years of COVID-19. It is the biggest business council in Qatar and the only one to organise so many functions. This year we held our first Business Golf Tournament with a second one to follow in November, we also had our first clay pigeon shooting competition. October saw the most events with a total of 4 in 4 weeks.”

Emad Turkman MBE has been a member of QBBF since 1995 and therefore was also given an award by QBBF Vice-Chair, Carly-Jane Figgis just before the awardees’ group photo.

The celebration continued with guests networking while the band, Caravan Dream, was playing live music.
