As part of its expansive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Masraf Al Rayan, one of the Middle East’s largest Shari’a-compliant banks, has collaborated with Ehsan to help the centre continue its mission of empowering and caring for the elderly in Qatar.

The bank made a donation to Ehsan to help maintain its comprehensive range of support for the elderly, including daycare and psychological care, social support, and counselling, as well as a range of e-learning services.

The donation was announced by Hamad Al Kubaisi, Masraf Al Rayan’s Group Chief Human Resources Officer, who explained how it reflects the bank’s commitment to adhering to the tenets of Shari’a, promote an inclusive society and support all in the communities it serves.

"Masraf Al Rayan is proud to support Ehsan in its mission to make a difference in the lives of our elderly citizens and ensure they receive recognition and appreciation for their efforts in building the prosperous nation we enjoy today,” said Al Kubaisi. "Through Ehsan, we can help encourage, empower, appreciate, and care for the elderly – and live up to our commitment to serve all sections of society and our increasingly inclusive customer base.

"In supporting Ehsan, we are also enabling the human and social development pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which look to ensure our citizens can develop to their full potential and are empowered to be active members of an inclusive society. We would encourage all members of our community to support Ehsan and the elderly and demonstrate deep appreciation of their efforts in building the society we enjoy today.”

Jaber Al-Marri, director of the Communication and Media Office at the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan), expressed his thanks and appreciation for the support provided by Masraf Al Rayan to support the centre’s programmes and activities, which will benefit the elderly and support their active participation in society and contribute to their empowerment and continuing the path of giving. Masraf Al Rayan in providing this support confirms the importance of the partnership between the institutions and the support of social responsibility in the state.

Several non-profit and socially oriented organizations within Qatar are benefitting from Masraf Al Rayan’s comprehensive CSR and charitable initiatives. Most recently, bank staff took part in a blood-donation drive conducted in collaboration with the Blood Donor Center of Hamad Medical Corporation. Bank staff have also recently undergone sign language training in banking and finance terminology from the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs to enable them to better communicate with hearing impaired customers.
