Kuwari’s Moshrif lands French Arabian

Breeders’ Challenge

Continuing his outstanding line of form and taking his winning streak to five victories in a row, the Purebred Arabian Moshrif (Dahess x Tashreefat) carried the colours of his owner Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari to success when landing the Gr.1 (PA) French Arabian Breeders Challenge at Toulouse.

Under the care of master handler François Rohaut and given an excellent ride by Olivier Peslier, the outstanding four-year-old performer has now claimed two wins at the highest level and added to his Gr.1 success in last year’s Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains at Saint-Cloud to take the 2,200m showpiece at Toulouse.

Moshrif was held up towards the rear of the seven-runner field throughout the majority of the contest before plunging late in the straight to win by a half a length from his stablemate the Abdullah Fahad Al Attiyah-owned Ch’ezza (AF Albahar), who was ridden by Valentin Seguy.

The third place went to the Al Wasmiyah Racing-owned and X. Thomas-Demeaulte-trained Monda (No Risk Al Maury), who ran an excellent race as he was only a neck further under Declan-Patrick Mcdonogh.

Speaking after the race the winning trainer François Rohaut said “He takes a little while to get going, but that’s just Moshrif. Once he is rolling there really is no stopping him. He is a class above the others, and he shows that at the finish. He is without doubt one of the best I have trained. He will most likely head to Doha and then onto Saudi Arabia all being well.” Bred by Shadwell France and out of Tashreefat, Moshrif is a brother of the seven-time Gr.1 (PA) Muraaqib (Munjiz), who was also trained by François Rohaut.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Zamer wins PA Prix Cheri Bibi

Highly tried at Gr.1 (PA) level last time out, the Italian imported pure-bred Arabian colt Zamer (Nizam x Iviolada de Zamaglia) took the Gr.3 (PA) Prix Cheri Bibi at Toulouse on Monday evening in the silks of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Trained by Thomas Fourcy, Zamer was a perfect five in Italy since making his debut in March and made sub-standard French debut when finishing tenth at Saint Cloud in the Gr.1 (PA) Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains before he quickly bounced back to grab his sixth victory, on Monday, which was his seventh outing.

Ridden in the 1,600m contest at Toulouse by Jerome Cabre, the three-year-old Zamer was held up just behind the leaders and travelled well throughout the contest. Switched wide up the straight, Zamer stayed on the strongest of all to take the Gr.3 (PA) contest by a length from the X. Thomas- Demeaulte-trained and Ioritz Mendizabal-ridden Nahim (Dahess).

Madrassa (No Risk Al Maury) ran a solid race and finished a further three lengths back in third for trainer D. Guillemin and jockey Jean- Bernard Eyquem.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer Thomas Fourcy said: “He had a good time of things in Italy. It was a bit tough for him at Saint-Cloud. Today, he got into a lovely rhythm and accelerated well, exactly like he is in the mornings. I am happy for the owners and now we can consider heading to Doha.”
